We decided to change our script because we thought it would be to diffiuclt to have the era in the 80s and because there was too much going on at the time, and the shot sequence didn't look proffensinal enough, and by this change we learnt about organisation

(New) Costume Planning/Character

This is our main character, Amelia.
She is 16 years old and in Sixth Form.  The audience will relate to her because she is of a similar age, and in further education.  Since she is a female lead, men may feel  that she is attractive (Male gaze theory) and that’s why they want to watch the film, and also females can relate to that character because she’s a generic teenage girl, there is nothing strange or different about her.In any horror film, and generally in every film costume and props are very important because it can connote different things, whether it’s representing a role, showing signs of stereotypes they are both required. The costume that the character is wearing is simple but is yet still effective. The character is wearing a light blue long sleeved shirt and plain black trousers, she is generally covered, and this goes against the horror convention of woman because she is not seen an hypersexual. At first, our original character had brunette hair and we were considering giving that person a blonde wig and dress her in skimpy and revealing clothing so that we can go along with the convention of horror and connote the stereotypical blonde girl

Props

The phone is a major part of iconography in our film as the unknown number calling Amelia’s phone starts to raise suspicion. The crack on the phone suggests that the character is careless and vulnerable. We watched ‘Scream’ and used the idea of having a phone ringing this hints that something severe will happen to the character later. For example when ‘Casey’ picks the phone in the first scene of ‘Scream’ she starts to have a conversation with what will be her killer but she doesn’t realise this as she is a naive and immature character.

This picture shows the crack that the phone has. As said before this suggest that the character is careless and vulnerable.



The fake blood on the trees which was made from red and blue food colouring with gelatine, this made a realistic blood effect is an important aspect for our film as it makes the opening daunting and make it seem more a horror rather than our previous attempt where nothing sinister was happening.

New Updated Storyboard

We updated our storyboard because our last one wasn't detailed enough and we also changed our storyline of the production so obviously it wasn't relevant.

Setting & Location Planning

At first you see the character Amelia in an empty class room. We chose an empty class room because it emphasis the theme of isolation. The empty class room is used for deliberate effect as it creates a sense of the unknown, also a classroom is supposed to be considered a safe environment to be in.

Next you see Amelia walking into the woods, the woods is considered to be a horror convention and this adds effect as it is sinister. Amelia is seen walking through the gate of the woods, and the lighting is dark this creates an eerie atmosphere.

Movie Title: Amelia

The orginal movie title was going to be "You can run but you can't hide" however we thought that this was too cliché. The title "Amelia" comes from the main character. We was going to have the title at the start but we thought it would add more effect and emphasis if it was at the end; we'll add a dip to black. At the start theres an establishing shot and that's when the key/main credits come in. 

Changes to our media production

We've changed the story and planning of our media production because its to hard to set it in the 80's. For example we'll need certain clothes and setting to do this, and in modern day and lack of essential items this would be difficult. Our story still has the character Ameila, and obviously theres stilla killer. We've decided that we'll leave the audience with the unexpected, at the end. She could be killed and she might not,

New Opening Synopsis

The film opening is set in Norwich at the school Ormiston Victory Academy, in 2012. The opening focuses on Amelia.  Amelia is 16 years old and brunette.  She is intelligent and cares about her studies, she wants to gain the best grades.
Amelia is first seen studying in an empty room. As she’s studying she is getting calls and text’s from an Unknown number, she ignores the Unknown number, but not so long after she hears strange noises and she doesn’t know where it is coming from.  Amelia decides to leave the empty room and walk home.  As she’s walking home she gets another call from the Unknown number. Amelia  is getting anxious and she starts hearing strange noises and notices that theres blood on the tree, as she's walking a hand touches her shoulder and she screams.We changed our opening synopsis because it was to much work for it to be set in the 80’s and we  didn’t know how the characters could be represented. In addition the setting we had was to modern and didn’t fit with the 80’s era.

Costume Planning

This is a picture of Grace who plays the role of the mother in the production. She is the one who dies first and she has blonde hair which is a convention of horror. As you can see in the photo Grace has fake blood on her shirt this gives off a realistic feeling towards the production.

This is Morris he plays the father in the production and also the killer. He is a mad psychopath who kills his wife and then goes on to kill the Daughter. Morris's costume is hard to justify but the overall meaning of it is that dull colours obviously link to darkness and in regards to our production it links in with the story because of his inability to care.

 This is Amy she plays the daughter in the production.

Rough Storyboard

Opening synopsis

The film opening is set on the outskirts of Norwich, Costessey in the 1980’s era. The opening focuses on Amelia. Amelia is a 16 year old, brunette. She dresses appropriately and she is very intelligent, she is also naive and adventurous. Amelia lives in a semi-detached single-family house with her 45 year old father David and her 43 year old mother Karen.

Amelia is first seen running out of her house and down the road in with her dad following her  early afternoon for an unknown reason. This reason is found out soon.

Amelia is upstairs in her room playing a (80’s artist) record on the 25^th November 1987 then she hears  a strange noise so she warily walks down the stairs. The camera sharply cuts to a hand holding a knife covered in blood. When Amelia reaches the bottom of the stairs she finds her mother dead on the floor. Amelia begins to overwhelm with emotions as she screams at first then kneels beside her mother and begins to cry.  Watching her cry beside her mother is David standing on the other side of the room with a sinister look in his eyes.

Amelia is looking around and her breathing gets heavier as David is getting closer to her.

           Amelia is in her room listening to records and she hears a strange noise

 Amelia walks into the living room to find her mother dead on the floor.
